It hung in heaven, upheld by God,

And arch'd the distant gloom,

And bent on either side to earth,

In bright and graceful form.

This covenant Jehovah keeps,

Forever faithful, true;

For when the rains are o'er, then high

The rainbow comes in view.

Whene'er we gaze upon its form,

And note its colours fair;

Our hearts should be inspired toward God,

With love and praise and prayer.

He gives the sun to warm the earth;

He sends the healthful shower,

And saves us always, through His grace,

By His almighty power.
